Circulator pump check

How to check the circulation pump in heating systems

Without the correct operation of the pump, there is no heating. At the beginning of the heating season, make sure that the impeller of the pump has not blocked due to standing for several months: turn on only the pump, and only when you are sure that there is a flow of water can you turn on the heaters. When the pump is turned on, if everything is in order, the pointer on the thermo-manometer will show a slightly higher pressure than the one when the pump is at rest (applies to models of Mikoterm block boilers with a mechanical manometer). In newer models with digital pressure measurement, the pressure value on the display will decrease by 0.1÷0.2 bar - due to the position of the pressure sensor. In general, with all models, at the moment of switching on a properly working pump, a change in the pressure display on the manometer (of any type) is noticed. Also, if the impeller of the pump is not blocked, a light vibration can be felt on the pipes near the boiler, and if the pump has been in operation for a long time, the sound of the turbine turning can probably be heard.  Instructions for the WILO-PARA MSL/6-43/SC pump.

Set the boiler temperature (on the boiler's working thermostat) in the economical range (50 ÷ 70 °C). It is recommended to start with lower temperatures, but still sufficient so that after approximately 30÷40 minutes from the moment the room thermostat is turned on, the set room temperature is reached and the room thermostat turns off the boiler. The same applies to the power, start with a lower power, but do not hesitate to increase it if the boiler "struggles" to reach the set temperature. An increase in power does not mean an increase in consumption, because with a higher power, the boiler works for a shorter time, so the energy consumption (which is measured on the meter) is very similar, or the same. If it cannot reach the set temperature when running at low power, the boiler will consume more energy and the life of the components that are always on will be shorter.

Install a room thermostat (if not already installed), because it significantly contributes to saving electricity. energy and comfort. It is recommended to use programmable thermostats, and you can also install a "smart" thermostat and use a mobile application to control and manage your heating.
